ISPM 15 Heat Treatment for Export
ISPM 15 Heat Treatment for Wood Packaging & Products
Export Pallets provides ISPM 15 heat treatment for timber used in export packaging — including pallets, crates, cases, dunnage, and other wood packaging materials. Treatment happens in our own on-site kiln in Melbourne, which means no outsourcing to a third-party treatment facility and no added handling or transport costs. We heat treat timber to the internationally required standard, apply the official ISPM 15 stamp, and issue a Heat Treatment Certificate so your goods meet international wood packaging requirements and are less likely to be held up at quarantine.
What Is ISPM 15 Heat Treatment?
ISPM 15 heat treatment is the process of heating solid wood packaging material to a core temperature of at least 56°C for a minimum of 30 minutes. This kills insects and larvae living inside the timber, without the use of any chemicals.
ISPM 15 (International Standards for Phytosanitary Measures No. 15) is the global biosecurity standard set by the International Plant Protection Convention (IPPC) to prevent wood pests from spreading between countries via international trade. It applies to any solid wood packaging material used to ship goods overseas — not just pallets. This includes:
- Pallets
- Crates and cases
- Dunnage and packing timber
- Wooden boxes
- Reels, drums, and load-bearing timber blocks
Most importing countries require this timber to be treated, stamped, and certified before it’s allowed across the border.
ISPM15 Heat Treatment Process
Timber is loaded into our on-site kiln
It's heated to the ISPM 15 temperature threshold for the required hold time.
Once treatment is complete, the timber is stamped with the official ISPM 15 mark.
We issue a Heat Treatment Certificate confirming compliance for your export paperwork.
Why ISPM 15 Heat Treatment Matters for Exporters
Getting your export timber properly heat treated gives you three key advantages:
- Faster Quarantine Clearance
Timber stamped with the ISPM 15 mark is recognised by customs and biosecurity authorities worldwide, cutting down on inspection delays. - Lower Supply Chain Risk
Every day your shipment sits in quarantine adds cost and pushes back delivery. Compliant, correctly stamped timber reduces that exposure. - Chemical-Free Compliance
Heat treatment relies on temperature alone — no fumigants such as methyl bromide — making it a cleaner choice for your goods, your staff, and the environment.
For the smoothest quarantine outcome, every piece of wood packaging in a consignment needs a valid ISPM 15 stamp. Unmarked or non-compliant items can lead to inspection, treatment, or delays for the whole shipment.
Why Our On-Site Kiln Keeps Your Costs Down
A lot of timber and pallet suppliers send wood offsite to a third-party facility for ISPM 15 treatment, adding extra transport legs, handling fees, and turnaround time to every order. Export Pallets treats timber in our own kiln, on-site, as part of the one process. That means:
- No third-party treatment fees passed on to you.
- No extra freight moving timber to and from an external kiln.
- Faster turnaround, since treatment isn’t queued behind another business’s schedule.
- Better cost control on both one-off and ongoing export timber requirements.
ISPM 15 Treated Pallets, No Minimum Order
While our heat treatment service covers all types of export timber, pallets are one of our core specialities. Export Pallets manufactures and supplies ISPM 15 heat treated timber pallets ready for export, including new timber pallets and custom-made pallets built to your load and sizing requirements.
There’s no minimum order quantity on ISPM 15 treated wooden pallets — whether you need one pallet or a bulk order, we’ll treat and certify it. This makes us a practical option for smaller exporters and one-off shipments, not just high-volume accounts.
Because treatment happens on-site as part of our manufacturing process, pallets ordered through Export Pallets arrive already stamped and certified — no need to source pallets and treatment separately. If you supply your own timber pallets for treatment only, we can also heat treat and certify these for you.
Who Can Certify ISPM 15 Heat Treatment in Australia?
Export Pallets is AWPCS-accredited, meaning we’re authorised to heat treat timber, apply the official ISPM 15 stamp, and issue compliant Heat Treatment Certificates — all on-site, with no third-party wait times or outsourcing delays.
